Introducing The Voice of Grassroots Football: a platform for the players who matter.

Finally. Following months of dedicated preparation, we’re finally here. Given the current climate surrounding COVID-19 and its detrimental impact on our leagues, it feels oddly bittersweet to launch this platform under these circumstances. And as we find ourselves swamped with yet another national lockdown, things haven’t been looking up for our beloved game as of late. In fact, I could go as far as saying that I’ve lost the joy of saving a fiver on match subs every week.

Yet still, even with no end in sight in regards to this pandemic – fundamental problems to do with grassroots football are still constantly overlooked. For years on end, inconsistency and a severe lack of funding has left grassroots football with an undeserved sense of insignificance. Just think - if most top professional footballers that we look up to were once part of this community; then why aren’t our players, our coaches, our groundsmen - our football pioneers - recognised on a larger scale?

In that case, why not shift the spotlight from elite competition. Why not take this period of isolation as an opportunity. An opportunity to widen the scope and gather the thousands of grassroots footballers and teams across the capital within one figurative capacity. This is the blog that will finally showcase the untold successes of thousands of grassroots football teams across London – whilst capturing new successes as they happen. So, if you’re a Sunday League player reading this and wondering what’s to come from this platform, the concept of The Voice of Grassroots Football is in the name itself. You are the stars of this community. On our side of things, we have one mission and one mission only: to revert long-overdue recognition back to the players and coaches who truly matter.

So, long story short - welcome. Get in touch with us and get involved for free. Share our content online and push our message across the UK. In all honesty, there is no predicting the impact that we'll have on perceptions of our game. But in efforts to redefine the levels of respect for London grassroots football, this is definitely a battle worthwhile.
